Gray Stole with Designs from Nature

I'm always keeping an eye out for remarkable fabrics that would look particularly good on people with silver/gray/white hair, and this fabric fits the bill. Designed by Kaffe Fassett, this fabric has a nice variety of grays, black, white, and light blue and green. It's tree fungus. The pattern is nice and big, fun to explore, but not disracting. Click here to see more about this stole.

New Everglades Clergy Stole

This fabric is out of production and hard to find, but I just found a piece that I can use to make three stoles! Click here to see one on Etsy. This has been one of the most popular stoles in my Etsy shop. The colors are beautiful and it's nice and smooth to the touch.

Digitally Printed Clergy Stole

Most fabrics can be printed with up to 18 colors. The new digital fabric printing process can apply any number of colors. This fabric is digitally printed with countless shades of blue, green and gold. The skinny horizontal stripes go from very dark on one side of the entire fabric panel, and then  gradually get lighter as you move across the panel. The stole shown here was cut from the darkest end of the fabric. You can see the stoles made from the medium shades and the lightest shades at Shadrachs on Etsy. At the moment, all three are available.

This high tech fabric makes for a unique clergy stole that is both joyful and dignified. It would make a memorable gift.

The mitered back looks good with the stripes meeting at a 90 degree angle.

Indigo Blue Advent Stole

This beautiful design looks like streams of water. This print by Moda is inspired by the Japanese Shibori method of resist dyeing in which fabric is folded and tied, then dyed in indigo. Indigo dye has been in use since antiquity. This fabric has a nice smooth hand.

This stole is beautiful for Advent. See details here.

Lavender Batik Stole

This beautiful handmade batik fabric was made in Java, Indonesia. The process is over 2,000 years old. You can see the process here.
I purchased this fabric and made three stoles. Each one is slightly different because the pattern varies depending on where you cut the pattern pieces.
This stole would look particularly good on someone with gray hair. :)

Autumn Colors Clergy Stole

Made with a variety of handwoven cotton fabrics from Guatemala and solid color fabrics made in the USA, this stole glows with the warm colors of autumn. Also nice for Pentecost. There are several  stoles similar to this, but each one is unique in the color layouts.

Each individual stole has a number to identify it, so if you choose #136, you get #136. See it here.

Yellow Clergy Stoles

The solid yellow stole shown above is made from silk dupioni.  It has tiny slubs or chunks that I like. Dupioni is also a little bit stiffer than many silks, which is nice for a stole. The back side is black cotton so the stole won't slide off your lap when sitting down. See it here.

This stole is made from a big variety of cotton prints and batiks. Bright and cheerful, this stole is called Joyful Golden. It has been sold, but I plan to make more in the future.

Quilt Style Stole

This stole has nearly 200 fabric strips pieced together like a patchwork quilt! Each strip is a little more than 1/2" wide. Beautiful assortment of new fabrics in every color. A few of the fabrics have recogniable images that you can find upon close inspection: nuts, rulers, rocks, leaves, flowers, spoons, but they don't grab your attention.

The whole assortment blends together in a joyful and friendly way.  Perfect for worship and celebrations. There's something about a quilt that is inviting and comforting.

See details here.

First Stole in a New Series: Joyful Blue

See details about this Joyful Blue stole #268 here: Shadrach's Fine Handmade Clergy Stoles.

This is the first of six stoles made from my collection of Kaffe Fassett Collective prints. I love this combination of blue, green and lavender. It reminds me of an evening walk by a lake.

I like the idea of incorporating beauty in worship.

New African Clergy Stole, #257

Today I cut into my latest Etsy purchase of African fabrics. I buy from sources in the US and Africa. I used to make quilts with these fabrics, but now I use them mostly for clergy stoles. When you view a whole yard, the bright bold designs can be overwhelming. But when cut up and blended together in a stole or a quilt, I think the result is beautiful.

See the listing for this stole in Shadrach's, my Etsy shop. Available for purchase. Fast shipping.
If this stole will be a gift, let me know, and I'll include a matching handmade gift card. No charge.

Another Seaglass Stole

Blues, greens and sandy chartreuse colors look like seaglass. This soothing pallette is popular and hard to keep in stock. This one is hot off the sewing machine. It would make a nice gift for a pastor who enjoys the beach and the sea. Happy summer!
