Digitally Printed Clergy Stole

Most fabrics can be printed with up to 18 colors. The new digital fabric printing process can apply any number of colors. This fabric is digitally printed with countless shades of blue, green and gold. The skinny horizontal stripes go from very dark on one side of the entire fabric panel, and then  gradually get lighter as you move across the panel. The stole shown here was cut from the darkest end of the fabric. You can see the stoles made from the medium shades and the lightest shades at Shadrachs on Etsy. At the moment, all three are available.

This high tech fabric makes for a unique clergy stole that is both joyful and dignified. It would make a memorable gift.

The mitered back looks good with the stripes meeting at a 90 degree angle.

This is the first of six stoles made from my collection of Kaffe Fassett Collective prints. I love this combination of blue, green and lavender. It reminds me of an evening walk by a lake.

I like the idea of incorporating beauty in worship.

New African Clergy Stole, #257

Today I cut into my latest Etsy purchase of African fabrics. I buy from sources in the US and Africa. I used to make quilts with these fabrics, but now I use them mostly for clergy stoles. When you view a whole yard, the bright bold designs can be overwhelming. But when cut up and blended together in a stole or a quilt, I think the result is beautiful.

New Batik Stoles - They Look Like the Sea

Beautiful hand-printed batik fabric in many shades of turquoise and green. 

This stole has a translucent quality, like the sea; it looks great on a black robe. 

The pattern looks like layers of bubbles, very unique and artistic.

Yellow Clergy Stole

This clergy stole is part of the Joyful series. Other versions are available in red, blue, green, and multi colors. This sunny yellow stole includes many shades of gold, brown and orange.

New Ordinary Time Stole

 This clergy stole for Ordinary Time is primarily green with some blue and turquoise. The fabrics include Westminster designer prints, Indonesian batiks, and even some realistic green apple fabric.

Vertical Design Blue Stole

 I just finished making this stole and I love it. The fabric is by Timeless Treasures and it has a very pleasing hand. The colors are rich and beautiful, reminding me of water, sky in the evening and grass. It's cool and soothing. This stole is artistic and dignified, perfect for worship in my opinion. 54" Length. Back side is black. All cotton; won't slide on your lap when sitting.

Hand-Dyed Color Gradation Fabrics for Clergy Stoles!

This clergy stole was made from 100% cotton hand-dyed fabrics. The colors range from dark raspberry to brown to kiwi chartreuse. The fabrics look like suede, but they're not. The back of the stole is black cotton. See more details here: Shade clergy stole #182.

Seaglass Colors, Cool and Peaceful

Many shades of grayish green, blue and gold look like a collection of seaglass. The soft colors are cool and peaceful, like a contemplative walk on the beach. 54" Long measured from back of neck.

The back side is black, 100% cotton, won't slide off your lap when sitting.

Red Clergy Stole - Shot Cottons

Shot cotton fabrics have one color thread for the warp and another color thread for the weft. This creates a beautiful effect. All of the shot cottons in this stole have red as one of the colors in the weave. There are 8 different shot cottons and 4 solid color fabrics in this stole.

Painterly Blue Stole

This blue stole looks like an abstract painting, but it's printed cotton fabric. Colors include: aqua, turquoise, royal blue, cobalt blue, a little green and purple, and a smidgen of chartreuse. Nice effect, like a soothing drink of cool water. See this stole here. 

Wheat Clergy Stole

This new clergy stole has nice images of wheat in shades of beige, brown and white. It brings to mind the references to wheat and tares or wheat and chaff in Matthew. Subtle, dignified print.

New African Fabric Clergy Stoles

Here are three recent additions to Shadrach's, Fine Handmade Clergy Stoles on Etsy. 

These stoles were made using fabrics from all over Africa: wax prints, batiks, and solids. I collected the fabrics in New York City's garment district in recent years. Vendors help me find the best examples. 

New Mosaic Clergy Stole

This fused mosaic clergy stole is the newest item in my Etsy shop: Shadrach's. I finished it last night, just in time for Advent. It's made from Kona cotton: black, royal blue and turquoise. On my screen the turquoise looks washed out but it's actually quite brilliant. I love this color combination. It's relaxing to cut and arrange the "tiles" in alternating clusters of blue and turquoise.

New Clergy Stole with Antique Buttons

 This new clergy stole features 433 vintage buttons sewn in a wavy organic river pattern. It is the newest stole listed on Shadrach's.

The buttons are from the 1800's and 1900's. People used to save buttons from worn out clothing. Eventually they ended up in rummage sales and antique shops. That's where I found them. Some are ordinary, others are interesting, like the bovine bone buttons with 2 large holes. Some of the buttons are square. They are mostly white and off-white, with some brown and a few other colors.

These buttons represent the history of those who wore them to school and work, to worship, to weddings and births, in illness, at sea, and possibly in the Civil War.

I will try to replace these photos with ones that show a better view of the buttons. In these photos the buttons are too bright. They are actually more varied and interesting than this.

Red Mosaic Stole

I like the red mosaic stole even more than the blue one. This stole has 6 shades of red, rust and purple, with just a little blue. I love how the blue "pops." To see more details, click here: Red Mosaic Clergy Stole.

New Handmade Mosaic Clergy Stoles

Twelve shades of blue, turquoise and purple fabrics were cut by hand and arranged on this black clergy stole for a pleasing mosaic effect. Reminiscent of a stained glass window.
